Overview:
An experienced Binding Authority professional is required to support the operational oversight and administration of delegated underwriting arrangements within a specialist insurance environment. The role focuses on ensuring the effective management of binder operations, data integrity, bordereaux processing, and outsourced service delivery.
Working closely with underwriting, operations, and external service providers, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the ongoing enhancement of binder management processes and reporting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Binder Management & Oversight:
- Ensure all applicable binders are notified to the outsourced service provider in line with agreed service levels and monitor timely system set-up and query resolution.
- Oversee binder mapping reviews and approvals to ensure all data passes quality control standards.
- Coordinate with service providers to ensure bordereaux are received, validated, and uploaded in line with operational processes and timelines.
- Act as a point of escalation for bordereaux queries and data submission issues where standard processes do not achieve the required outcome.
- Monitor regular compliance checks on uploaded data and escalate potential breaches of binder terms where identified.
- Oversee the transfer and integration of bordereaux data into internal reporting and data warehouse systems.
- Support the reconciliation, validation, and upload of claims bordereaux where applicable.
- Assist with the integration of new systems, platforms, or processes relating to binder and bordereaux management.
Operational Support & Process Improvement:
- Work with senior operational stakeholders to monitor and manage aged debt associated with delegated underwriting arrangements.
- Collaborate with underwriting and finance teams to reduce outstanding balances at declaration level where required.
- Contribute to projects focused on improving operational processes, systems integration, and downstream services.
- Support change initiatives impacting outsourced operational activities.
- Identify process inefficiencies, reconciliation issues, or data quality concerns and ensure corrective actions are implemented and resolved.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of reporting relating to delegated underwriting arrangements.
- Promote and support the effective use of bordereaux repositories and business intelligence reporting tools.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of reporting and data management capabilities in line with underwriting and regulatory requirements.
Governance & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Provide support in reviewing and improving outsourced service delivery and operational performance.
- Participate in internal or external working groups or committees relating to delegated underwriting operations.
- Ensure internal processes and documentation meet internal and external audit standards.
- Escalate operational risks or service delivery issues appropriately.
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and internal governance policies.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience within the insurance market, ideally within delegated underwriting or binding authority operations.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end underwriting processes and operational workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operational processes and meet stakeholder requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Experience managing relationships with outsourced service providers or operational partners.
Desirable but Not Essential:
- Experience within the London Market, particularly delegated underwriting or binder operations.
- Knowledge of claims bordereaux processing or claims operations.
- Familiarity with bordereaux management platforms, repositories, or data reporting tools.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to insurance operations and delegated underwriting.
- Experience supporting operational change initiatives or systems implementation.
