Type: Permanent | Hybrid

Overview:

An exciting opportunity for an analytically minded and commercially driven Pricing Actuary to join a dynamic and fast-growing underwriting agency. This role offers significant influence on strategic pricing decisions across a unique and evolving portfolio of niche products and complex risks. You’ll be embedded within the business, working closely with underwriters and senior leadership to shape real-time underwriting decisions and long-term pricing strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver standard and bespoke actuarial pricing models to support underwriting decisions.
  • Provide pricing insight through experience/exposure rating, rate change analysis, inflation impact, mix and price adequacy reviews.
  • Partner with underwriters to shape deal-level decisions and recommend tailored pricing solutions.
  • Monitor account performance and identify trends to optimise portfolio profitability.
  • Support strategic pricing initiatives and contribute to the actuarial control framework through peer reviews and process improvements.
  • Mentor junior team members and support broader business needs with actuarial analysis.
  • Assist in exposure management, ensuring catastrophe risks are understood and appropriately reflected in decision-making.

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 5 years of commercial or specialty lines pricing experience.
  • Strong actuarial pricing techniques across various insurance classes.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and commercial acumen.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and contribute to real-time decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, engineering, or a related field.

Desirable but Not Essential:

  • London Market experience.
  • Professional qualifications such as FIA, CII, CFA, or relevant data science certifications.
  • Experience in portfolio management, capital modelling, or reserving.
  • Skills in Python, R, SQL and data visualisation tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik Sense.

About the Company:

A fast-growing, entrepreneurial underwriting agency specialising in complex, delegated authority risk. Known for its collaborative culture, technical strength, and dynamic environment, the business is focused on innovation and strategic growth. With a lean structure and embedded actuarial function, this is a rare opportunity to gain broad exposure and make a meaningful impact at both the operational and strategic levels. The company values creativity, ownership, and a commitment to excellence.
