This Underwriting Apprentice role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in underwriting and operational insurance activities within a dynamic team. The apprentice will be responsible for supporting the underwriting process across allocated accounts, maintaining data accuracy, and assisting with business processing, compliance tasks, and reporting. This is a key entry-level position designed to provide foundational industry knowledge and skill development, with exposure to the full insurance lifecycle and the potential for permanent placement.
- Support pre- and post-bind activities, including populating underwriting systems and forms to ensure a smooth renewal process and excellent service delivery.
- Assist underwriters with data analysis and risk evaluation during the quotation process.
- Contribute to the daily administration of insurance programmes and ensure timely handling of underwriting tasks.
- Liaise between underwriting and finance teams to facilitate prompt premium processing and query resolution.
- Input and manage accumulation data using designated tools and systems.
- Conduct sanctions checks in accordance with compliance procedures, especially for high-risk territories.
- Maintain internal insurance records and ensure the accuracy of management information.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and peers within the market.
- Support in setting up references for new and renewal accounts.
- Monitor and update internal systems to ensure risks are processed correctly and on time.
- Perform ad hoc reporting, analyse renewal lists, and track monthly rates, aggregate exposures, and premium forecasts.
- Assist in resolving standard risk review queries and meeting key deadlines.
- Collaborate with senior underwriters in reviewing insurance policies and internal procedures to ensure compliance.
- Make informed recommendations to underwriters on authority limits and provide input on challenging case scenarios.
