Overview:
An exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Professional Indemnity Underwriter to join a market-leading Media underwriting team. This role offers exposure to both UK and international markets, focusing on providing innovative insurance solutions for media professionals. The successful candidate will manage renewals, assess new business, and cultivate strong broker relationships while contributing to the strategic growth of a specialist underwriting portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of Media Professional Indemnity risks within delegated authority.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers through meetings, networking, and responsive service.
- Handle renewals, quotations, and mid-term adjustments with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Represent the Media PI team at client and market meetings, supporting business development initiatives.
- Support senior underwriters and leadership with project work, portfolio analysis, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor broker accounts, address underwriting queries, and ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
- Provide mentoring and training support to junior underwriters once appropriate authority level is attained.
- Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency across the underwriting function.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar underwriting role, ideally within Media or Professional Indemnity lines.
- Strong technical understanding of Media PI products and underwriting principles.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a broker-focused mindset.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and data management.
- Ability to organise workload, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable but Not Essential:
- Experience working with international and London Market business.
- Progress towards or completion of relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACII).
- Exposure to emerging risks within the media and technology sectors.
