Overview:
This is an excellent opportunity for a Data Governance Analyst to play a key role in strengthening data quality, governance, and control frameworks across a complex organisation. The role exists to support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of data governance initiatives, helping to improve data integrity, support better decision-making, and embed a stronger data-driven culture across the business. It would suit someone with strong analytical capability, hands-on data governance experience, and the confidence to work across multiple stakeholders and functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and ongoing development of data governance and data quality initiatives across the organisation
- Maintain metadata governance tooling, reporting processes, and internal audit support activities relating to regulated and business-critical data
- Contribute to operational data quality processes in line with internal policies, standards, and documentation requirements
- Manage data deficiency and change processes, working closely with data owners, stewards, and custodians to log, assess, resolve, and communicate incidents
- Conduct annual risk and impact assessments for material data, reporting findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders
- Support the documentation of critical data elements and broader non-regulatory data processes, providing guidance and training on governance tools and best practice
- Produce management information and reporting for governance leads, committees, and working groups
- Contribute to the assessment of alternative business processes and technology solutions to improve data quality and governance outcomes
- Act as a key participant in data governance forums and communities, helping to drive awareness and engagement across the business
- Define, maintain, and centralise governance definitions in line with best practice
- Help develop training materials and promote a stronger data culture and improved data literacy across the organisation
- Support a transparent and effective risk management culture by identifying and reporting non-compliance where appropriate
- Proven experience in a Data Governance Analyst, Data Quality Analyst, or similar role
- Strong understanding of data quality principles, governance frameworks, and corporate-level data processes
- Experience working with metadata, data quality controls, and governance tooling
- Good reporting and data analysis skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to investigate complex issues, identify root causes, and communicate findings clearly
- Experience working across different business functions and engaging a range of stakeholders effectively
- Ability to translate technical data concepts into clear business language
- Understanding of organisational structures, stakeholder management, and how to influence decision-makers
- Familiarity with risk, controls, and compliance requirements in a regulated environment
- Strong working knowledge of data processes, including data modelling, database design, ETL, and data flows
- Experience within insurance, reinsurance, or another highly regulated financial services environment
- Exposure to regulatory or solvency-related data frameworks
- Experience contributing to data stewardship forums or governance communities
- Experience creating training materials to improve data literacy and adoption of governance best practice
