Position: Assistant Underwriter

Job Description:

The Assistant Underwriter will play a crucial role in supporting the underwriting team in evaluating and assessing insurance applications. The Assistant Underwriter will work closely with Underwriters to gather and analyse information, assess risks, and make informed decisions on insurance policies. The ambition, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will be key to the success in this role.


Responsibilities:
 
  • Assist Underwriters in reviewing and evaluating insurance applications and supporting documents.
  • Collect and analyse data to assess risk and determine the appropriate coverage and premium rates.
  • Conduct research and gather information to support underwriting decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate underwriting files and documentation.
  • Communicate with agents, brokers, and other stakeholders to obtain additional information or clarify details.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as claims and policy administration, to ensure seamless processing of policies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact underwriting decisions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in underwriting or insurance is preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in using underwriting software and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
