Role definition

As a Cyber Assistant Underwriter you’ll work closely with the Underwriters and Team Leader on business across all U.S. territories. You’ll take responsibility for all aspects of underwriting for small new and renewal accounts as well as working to develop your own long-term broker relationships. Whilst direct underwriting experience is not essential, you’ll have a keen interest in Cyber, and a willingness to develop your technical underwriting and business development skills in order to become a trusted advisor and respected specialist underwriter within the CFC Cyber team.

Key responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Underwrite small new and renewal accounts within the U.S cyber team;

• Deal with enquiries from all brokers, with focused broker development on key partners;

• Put up quotes in an efficient manner in line with service standards;

• Handle all report running for the team and other administrative jobs;

• Develop technical knowledge in the cyber market and from an underwriting perspective,

including exposure/control analysis of accounts up to 50M in annual turnover;

• Growth of key brokers as outlined in appraisal goals document;

• Attend relevant industry events, both internal and external.

Skills & Ability

• Operate effectively under pressure;

• Accurate numeracy skills with excellent attention to detail;

• Good command of the English language, spoken and written;

• Good communications skills with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with key broker partners;

• Confident, energetic and assertive;

• Excellent work ethic and flexibility with working hours;

• Courtesy and patience and with a flexible attitude.

Knowledge & Experience

• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in an insurance capacity (preferably Cyber);

• Computer literacy with strong skills in Outlook, Word and particularly Excel;

• Ability to develop a good understanding of PI insurance or Liability insurance.

Education & qualifications

• Preferably degree educated, preferably with or working towards ACII.
