Job Title: Underwriting Assistant – Aviation
Location: London
Salary Range: £32,000
Reporting to: Senior Underwriter
Type: Permanent

Overview:
This role supports Underwriters in the day-to-day administration and management of their portfolio. The Underwriting Assistant ensures accurate and timely entry of risk data, maintains organised records, and contributes to various operational and reporting processes. The role also involves liaising with brokers and internal stakeholders to help ensure the smooth operation of underwriting activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Input underwriting risk data into internal systems (e.g., SIMON), including setting up, amending, and completing risk entries.
  • Scan and file documents and correspondence in document management systems (e.g., DOCO).
  • Prepare peer reviews, pricing sheets, and risk summaries, ensuring documents are signed off and appropriately archived.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date paper and electronic files, following up on missing documentation as needed.
  • Monitor reports for incomplete entries or data errors and liaise with Underwriters or brokers to resolve them.
  • Track premium payments and issue notices of cancellation for non-payment, including managing credit control data.
  • Maintain and issue notices to review for hull war business as directed by Underwriters.
  • Enter and track auto bind declarations, ensuring timely receipt and record updates.
  • Assist in compiling data for reinsurance packs, internal reports, and meeting materials.
  • Support the preparation of data for Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Contribute to periodic analysis for updating pricing/rating models.
  • Begin to build working relationships with market peers, including brokers and underwriters.
  • Attend relevant market presentations and industry sessions to build awareness and knowledge.

Education
  • Numerate degree not required however A-level Maths is a must
