About the role
To provide support to the underwriter and assistant underwriters and to create and maintain syndicate records
Key Tasks
- Slip copying and scanning
- Creating quotes
- Mapping of data
- Pre and post underwriting risk data analysis
- Creating partial entries
- Entry of risk data into underwriting system
- Entry of aggregate data onto the appropriate systems
- Management of filing and data storage
- Answer queries from credit control department, data entry outsource providers etc.
- Calling and liaising with brokers as necessary
- Creation and monitoring of renewal list, weekly risks and claims reports
- Ad hoc tasks as may be required
- For the Underwriting Assistant role, you will have a demonstrable interest in a career in insurance and underwriting.
- An understanding of Lloyd’s and the insurance market, industry and people.
- Good mathematical ability and problem solving aptitude
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently
- An interest in undertaking the CII exams
- IT skills (Word, Excel and other software packages used within the business)

Able to input data and maintain records with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Able to develop and maintain ongoing relationships with brokers, underwriters and other staff.

Able to analyse and interpret financial information.

Able to operate at all times to the standards and rules of the regulatory bodies and those set out in the firm’s standards documents

Authority Level
No authority to accept risks or settle claims on behalf of the syndicate.
