Salary: £32,000 per annum
About the role
The desired candidate would be assisting the team in writing a book of property treaty reinsurance. They should be motivated and hard working with a very good numeracy skill set. The candidate must be organised and comfortable with excel in order to handle business flow and data entry requirements. They will be trained up to use RMS vendor models as well as the business internal systems, with an attention to detail on data accuracy. They will work closely with the team of Underwriters in order to hit or exceed the business plan underwriting profit whilst
working within the business risk tolerance, pricing and governance framework. The candidate will be client facing therefore they must be sociable and personable in order to deal with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Skills
- At a high level, key skills and experience required including:
- written and verbal communication;
- very good numeracy skills and Excel proficiency;
- ability to effectively support the underwriting team to achieve its business plan targets;
- understanding of the market and wider environment, including changing political and social environment and potential impacts on the company; and
- understanding of issues or risks to the ability of the company to achieve the business plan.
- understanding of the business, its culture, values and strategic objectives;
- communicating the core culture and value across the company;
- marketing and presenting the business to brokers, clients, capital providers and prospective business partners; and establishing and maintaining relationships with senior partners and peers across the market, including Lloyd’s and LMA.
Education / Experience
- Up to 12 months experience in broking or underwriting, preferably (but not required) in the London market.
- Experience in Property CAT modelling beneficial (but not required)
- Education to degree level or equivalent.
IT Knowledge
Microsoft packages, Word, Excel, Internet software, e-placing.
