Job Title: Underwriter – Power & Renewables
Location: London, UK
Salary Range: £115,000

Overview:

An opportunity for an experienced underwriter to join a dynamic and growing Power & Renewables team. The role involves underwriting and developing a profitable portfolio, building strong broker and client relationships, and supporting the strategic ambition to be a market leader in the energy transition.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and manage Power & Renewables risks within delegated authority to deliver portfolio profitability and growth.

  • Contribute to the development of the annual business plan and support strategic initiatives across the portfolio.

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities via London Market brokers and international distribution channels.

  • Apply technical underwriting expertise to evaluate and select profitable risks, while supporting long-term client retention.

  • Collaborate with engineering specialists to assess risk management features, benchmark technologies, and monitor industry trends.

  • Monitor claims activity and trends, working with claims teams to support appropriate settlement outcomes and apply lessons learned to future underwriting decisions.

  • Ensure full compliance with underwriting governance, internal controls, and regulatory frameworks, including Lloyd’s standards.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of systems used to track and report aggregate exposures.

  • Support the refinement and use of technical pricing models to inform underwriting decisions.

  • Provide regular updates to management on market trends and portfolio performance, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

  • Participate in internal committees and working groups across underwriting, engineering, operations, and risk management disciplines.

  • Mentor and support the development of junior team members.

  • Represent the business at industry conferences, panels, and client events to support thought leadership and market engagement.


What We're Looking For:

  • Strong knowledge of the Power Generation and Renewable Energy sectors.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.

  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail.

  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in improving internal processes and contributing to operational efficiency.
