Job Title: Portfolio Analyst

Overview:
This role is responsible for driving analysis that informs underwriting and portfolio management decisions. The Portfolio Analyst will lead key review processes, enhance performance monitoring tools, and collaborate with data and underwriting stakeholders to deliver accurate, insightful, and actionable reporting.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the weekly underwriting portfolio review process to assess:

Performance of priced and written business against plan.
-
Key changes in written premium and pricing metrics versus the prior week.
-
Notable claims movements compared to the previous week.
Expand and enhance the weekly review process by incorporating new performance metrics and visualisations.
Identify trends in underwriting KPIs across different underwriting franchises.
Support the design, development, and testing of new dashboards and management information (MI) tools for real-time performance tracking.
Maintain and improve existing dashboards using Power BI.
Collaborate with data governance teams to enhance the visibility and availability of core underwriting data points.
Conduct regular validation checks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of portfolio data.
Support ad-hoc analysis requests from underwriting leadership and management teams.
Participate in monthly performance meetings with senior underwriting leaders to discuss results and market developments.
Key Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex data for leadership audiences.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.

Knowledge of SQL, Power BI, and/or VBA is preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint is preferred.
Background & Experience:

1–2 years of experience in the insurance sector, ideally within the Lloyd’s market.

Experience in actuarial, underwriting, or exposure management functions is desirable but not required.

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or Finance is required.

A Master’s or PhD in a quantitative subject is preferred.
