Job Title: Underwriter – Delegated Authority
Location: London
Salary Range: Competitive
Reporting to: Senior Underwriting Manager / Head of Delegated Authority
Type: Permanent | Hybrid

Overview:

This is a great opportunity for an experienced delegated authority underwriter to contribute to the performance and governance of a delegated underwriting portfolio. The role involves managing Coverholder relationships, underwriting in line with strategy and authority, and monitoring key performance indicators. It suits someone who combines strong technical underwriting skills with a commercial mindset and a collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite delegated authority business in line with strategic and performance objectives
  • Operate within agreed underwriting authorities, appetite, and company policies
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on key performance indicators across the portfolio
  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with Coverholders and other stakeholders
  • Support the development and ongoing refinement of underwriting strategy and risk appetite
  • Identify and assess new opportunities and product ideas to meet income targets
  • Collaborate with internal functions such as Reserving, Pricing, Claims, Reinsurance, Legal, and Finance
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market developments, products, pricing, and distribution
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and internal governance standards
  • Oversee the performance of delegated services, both internal and external

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven underwriting experience, ideally in delegated authority
  • Sound knowledge of insurance and reinsurance principles
  • Strong understanding of intermediary markets and underwriting governance
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Strategic and operational thinking capability
  • Numerate, analytical, and commercially aware
  • Well-organised, proactive, and self-motivated

Desirable but Not Essential:

  • ACII qualification (or working towards)
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent
