Title: Reinsurance and Capital Manager
Location: London/ hybrid 
Salary: £100,000 per annum 

About the role 
The primary purpose of this role is to be the point of contact and oversight function of existing reinsurance and capital placements. The successful candidate will manage external broker and capacity relationships, as well as internal stakeholders within the Group. 

The successful candidate will assist the Director further in production of new reinsurance and capital relationships, negotiate contracts and wider strategic items. The successful applicant will be required to liaise and form close working relationships with external third-party brokers and (re)insurance markets, as well as the wider Group, mainly the CEOs of the underwriting businesses, US operations, syndicate management and reinsurance teams including the operational teams of the businesses, syndicate and US operations. 

You will be supported by the Director and Senior RI and UW Capital Manager and will have a team of junior colleagues to support you on placements and submissions. 

Responsibilities / Key Tasks
Alitus looks after all third-party capital for the Group, including its reinsurance purchases for its ever-growing franchises. Reporting to the Alitus Director, this role is a placement focus role and will include but is not limited to the following. Note, we would not expect the candidate to have experience in all of these areas but a willingness to learn:
  • Ownership of Group Global reinsurance placements, new and renewal
  • Ownership of Group Global UW capital (consortia) placements, new and renewal
  • Ownership of Group Global investor relations
  • Management of third-party broker relationships
  • Potential line management of junior colleagues
Requirements
You will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a (re)insurance role in any area of underwriting, broking, actuarial, cat modelling or other relevant experience. 
You are:
  • Comfortable building and maintaining relationships at all levels, internally and externally 
  • Self-motivated, resourceful and pro-active with the ability to question the status quo
  • Able to hit the ground running with a reinsurance placement from day 1
  • Interested in learning about new classes and businesses and presenting externally with various stakeholders
  • Organised with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and managing multiple deadlines
  • A confident presenter and negotiator, with the ability to eventually lead a meeting / pitch on your own
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on collaboration and innovation.
  • Numerate with technical capability in excel, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to trouble shoot problems and communicate results to clients, brokers, and colleagues, as required
