An internship at Hiscox will allow you to gain an understanding of how an international, specialist insurance company operates. You’ll be set challenging and meaningful work and have an opportunity to develop key business skills.
You’ll have the chance to meet, learn from, and work with senior people in the business. Your line manager will guide and challenge you and your graduate buddy will support you in your internship journey. There’ll be plenty of on-the-job learning guided by our experienced and respected insurance professionals, as well as structured training, business insight
sessions and networking opportunities throughout your time with us.
In addition to your individual work and projects, you’ll also get the opportunity to work together with your fellow interns on a team project, presenting the results to the wider business. Through this project you’ll be able to develop your team working skills and gain an insight into a different part of the business.

Our Operations teams make sure everything that's meant to happen does happen as smoothly and as quickly as possible. They are fundamental to Hiscox running efficiently and are key to pushing our business forward by driving opportunities for improvement. The teams deliver increased operational performance by improving accuracy and timeliness of our processes
and data, improving efficiency and freeing up capacity, reducing or avoiding costs and increasing greater process control,
ultimately resulting in us being able to deliver better service to our customers.
The Opportunity
As an Operations intern, you’ll get a great insight into the Operations function and will work with a wide range of key stakeholders at all levels. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference through the work you’re involved in - previous interns have worked on a process improvement project, where they worked closely with our Customer Experience Centre colleagues to drive operational efficiency within the Hiscox UK Direct business. You’ll also get to work with your fellow interns on a meaningful group project and will present the results to the wider business.
An Operations intern needs to be able to think critically to identify areas of improvement, and have the courage to ask questions to challenge the status quo. You’ll be able to think on your
feet to make intelligent, commercial business decisions and your open mind will allow you to learn and try new things.

Our internships are open to current students in their penultimate year who are planning to return to undergraduate or postgraduate studies following their time with us. In other words,
if you are due to graduate from an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in 2022, we want to hear from you.
You’ll be on course for at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent). You’ll have at least 120 UCAS points from 3 A-Levels (or 300 UCAS points for A-Levels achieved prior to September 2017). You’ll also have UK GCSE Maths and English at grade B/grade 6 (or international equivalent).
As well as being able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, you’ll be numerate and able to speak and write fluently in business English.
You must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.
The Internship takes place from 5th July to 27th August 2021.
You will hear from us within two weeks of submitting your application. Final stage interviews will be held in March.
