Job Title: IBA Account Handler (6 Month Fixed Term Contract)
Location: Bolton (Hybrid – typically 2–3 days in the office)
Salary Range: £30,000
Reporting to: Client Money Manager / Finance Manager
Type: 6 Months Fixed Term Contract

Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced IBA Account Handler to join a specialist insurance business on a six-month fixed-term contract. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of insurer and client accounts, ensuring accurate cash allocation, effective credit control, and compliance with regulatory client money requirements.

This is a fast-paced and collaborative position, ideal for someone with prior IBA experience who thrives on accuracy, stakeholder engagement, and delivering high standards of financial control within a regulated environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of insurer and client IBA accounts, ensuring all debts are collected promptly and liabilities settled within agreed credit terms
  • Allocate and match incoming cash accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate accounting ledgers
  • Investigate and resolve cash and reconciliation queries in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and issue statements of account in line with account holder requirements
  • Monitor and process client money payments to intermediary brokers
  • Identify and escalate potential bad debts at the earliest opportunity
  • Produce accurate and timely management information (MI) on both a regular and ad hoc basis
  • Maintain comprehensive and accessible records of communications and transactions
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including FCA CASS 5 Client Money Rules
  • Complete required compliance and training assessments
  • Support additional ad hoc tasks and finance-related projects as required



What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience within an IBA or insurance accounts handling role
  • Strong understanding of insurer/broker accounting processes and credit control
  • Solid MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident in building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Resilient, proactive, and solutions-focused approach



Desirable but Not Essential:

  • Experience using insurance accounting systems (e.g., Websure or similar platforms)
  • Previous experience working within a regulated client money environment
