Role Definition 
As an Assistant Underwriter you will provide operational, analytical and transaction support to the Transaction Liability underwriting team. You will support the end to end underwriting process from logging and processing submissions on CFC’s underwriting system, as well as inputting on risk reviews.

CFC’s transaction liability team is focussed on a wide range of risks related to mergers and acquisitions including representation and warranty (R&W) (also known as W&I) insurance and contingent liability and tax insurance policies across a number of key jurisdictions, with a particular focus on the United States.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities
• Supporting underwriters by providing underwriting assistance including file and document management and assisting to manage workflow/reporting requirements on CFC’s internal underwriting system

• Working with the existing support functions in CFC to ensure the timely progression of transactions from initial submission to policy binding (including the administrative aspects of this process)

• Reviewing and amending transaction documents including non-disclosure and hold harmless letters as required, as well as preparation of quotation documents

• Liaising with external legal counsel as required

• Developing relationships with M&A insurance brokers, lawyers, private equity firms, deal principals and internal CFC colleagues as required

• Analysing CFC’s M&A insurance portfolio, updating internal data sets and providing insights and management information

Education and Qualifications    
• Educated to at least A Level standard or higher with a view towards studying for a Certificate in Insurance (CII).
