Job Title: Apprenticeship Programme: Claims & Operations

Overview
This 24-month Apprenticeship Programme offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across Claims and Underwriting Operations. Structured as a two-part rotation—12 months in each area—the programme provides a well-rounded introduction to the insurance cycle and the operational backbone that supports it.
Combining 80% on-the-job learning with 20% structured training, the programme helps apprentices build essential industry knowledge, practical skills, and a strong foundation for a future career in operations, underwriting, claims management, or risk analysis.
Upon completion, successful candidates will earn the Insurance Practitioner Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard and Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII), along with potential pathways into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities
Underwriting Operations (12-Month Rotation)
Support underwriting teams in delivering high-quality client service by managing key operational tasks such as:
  • Recording and inputting insurance risk information
  • Booking and processing policy-related transactions
  • Preparing policy documentation
  • Managing mid-term adjustments and endorsements
You will also identify opportunities to enhance workflows and implement process improvements, gaining insight into the operational efficiency that supports underwriting decisions.
Claims (12-Month Rotation)
Understand the post-incident response process by contributing to the efficient handling of claims. Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with the execution of claims handling strategies
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders such as clients and brokers
  • Supporting the timely and accurate resolution of claims in line with service standards and regulatory guidelines
This rotation offers exposure to the full claims lifecycle and enhances your ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum A-levels (grade C or above) or equivalent (e.g., Scottish Highers, Junior Certificate in Ireland)
  • GCSE English and Mathematics
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • A customer-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Clear and confident communication, both written and verbal
  • A proactive approach with the ability to adapt and learn quickly
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • A team-oriented attitude with a curiosity to learn and a drive to improve
