Job Purpose:
Working within the Japanese Property and Casualty Team based in London, you will be responsible for maintaining our product offerings for our Japanese corporate clients.
The role will require you to provide technical analysis of our wordings suggesting coverage enhancements and implementing changes to ensure they remain compliant with internal guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership for creating, maintaining and enhancing our product offerings ensuring they are compliant with internal and regulatory requirements and incorporate latest best practice.
- Stay current with the latest market developments and clauses, ensuring that the latest guidance is communicated to all relevant parties.
- Develop and maintain a repository of approved policy forms, template schedules and endorsements with appropriate version control.
- Work with Underwriters on a day-to-day basis to assist with drafting and provide guidance on technical issues.
- Monitor the quality of document production to ensure policies represent the insurance cover agreed and conform with the Contract Certainty Code of Practice
- Liaise with other stakeholders in the business, such as Marketing and Compliance, to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines and reporting requirements.
- Providing technical guidance notes and in-person training for colleagues across the business.
- Provide guidance and expertise on specific coverage elements of our products.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Brokers and external knowledge-sharing forums representing the Business at meetings when appropriate.
- Undertake specific ad-hoc projects as and when required.
- Attending in house / external training sessions and actively maintain own training record.
Essential:
- A minimum of five years’ experience of working in a similar role.
- Excellent contract drafting skills, including sound knowledge of English grammar and sentence construction.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced MS Word and document formatting skills.
- Confidence to make decisions on coverage and the ability to explain your reasoning.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to lead and facilitate complex discussions with colleagues of all levels.
- Good organisation, time-management and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work independently under own initiative and as a part of the team.
- Law degree or legal experience which involves an element of reviewing and preparing legal contracts.
- Understanding of Global Insurance Products and the regulatory aspects of writing such business is desirable.
