Overview:
An opportunity for an organised and detail-focused Underwriting Assistant to support a specialty underwriting function within a growing, technology-enabled insurance environment. The role exists to ensure the smooth running of underwriting operations through strong administrative coordination, data management, and workflow support. You will work closely with underwriters, brokers, and delegated partners, contributing to efficient portfolio management, reporting, and day-to-day underwriting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and operational support to the underwriting team across new business and renewals
- Coordinate and attend client meetings, including preparing agendas, analysis, and meeting notes
- Maintain accurate records of submissions, pipeline activity, and underwriting documentation
- Support pre-bind underwriting processes and manage workflow tracking systems to ensure timely task completion
- Assist in the administration and monitoring of delegated authority arrangements, including documentation review
- Produce management information, statistical reports, and analysis for internal meetings and oversight forums
- Monitor premium income processes and maintain accurate financial tracking records
- Collate documentation required for internal and external audits
- Maintain professional communication with brokers, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Manage filing systems, logs, and operational records to ensure compliance and accessibility
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in Delegated Authority within the insurance market
- Prior experience supporting underwriting or insurance operations
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulae and pivot tables
- Strong numerical, analytical, and data interpretation capabilities
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks
- High attention to detail with strong administration and data management skills
- Confidence to coordinate activities and follow up on team deliverables
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment
Desirable but Not Essential:
- Experience supporting specialty insurance portfolios
- Exposure to underwriting workflow or project management tools
- Experience producing management reports or committee packs
- Interest in data analysis, trends, and operational improvement
