Overview:
This role is responsible for delivering independent delegated authority audits across selected third-party partners within the UK insurance market. The position plays a key part in strengthening oversight, improving operational standards, and ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance. It offers the opportunity to work across underwriting and claims operations while contributing to the ongoing development of audit frameworks and governance processes within a growing specialty insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent on-site and remote audits of delegated underwriting and claims partners in line with the annual audit schedule.
- Lead pre-audit scoping discussions with internal stakeholders to understand agreements, operational processes, and audit objectives.
- Coordinate the full pre-audit process, including scheduling, information gathering, file selection, and preparation activities.
- Manage professional communication with third-party partners throughout the end-to-end audit lifecycle.
- Produce high-quality audit reports and executive summaries in line with defined service standards.
- Participate in peer reviews of audit reports to ensure consistency and quality.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement and review of delegated authority audit frameworks and methodologies.
- Support the development and planning of the annual audit programme.
- Monitor regulatory developments and market changes, incorporating relevant updates into audit processes.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with compliance teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
What We're Looking For:
- Approximately 5+ years’ experience in an insurance audit or delegated authority oversight role.
- Strong technical understanding of underwriting processes, operational controls, and claims handling within delegated authority arrangements.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and due diligence capabilities.
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
- Confident interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with a range of stakeholders.
- Highly organised with effective time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple audits simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel within the UK as required.
Desirable but Not Essential:
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
