Job Title: Media Underwriter – Professional Indemnity
Location: City of London
Salary Range: Competitive
Reporting to: Underwriting Director

Type: Permanent | Hybrid (minimum 4 days in the office)

Overview:

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Media Professional Indemnity Underwriter to join a leading specialty insurer. The role focuses on underwriting Media PI business, managing renewals, and developing new business while maintaining strong broker relationships across both UK and international markets. This is a dynamic, fast-paced position suited to an underwriter who is commercially astute, technically skilled, and eager to contribute to a market-leading portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and service Media PI risks within delegated authority, ensuring sound risk selection and profitability.
  • Manage renewals, new business, quotations, and policy adjustments with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and strengthen broker relationships through regular engagement and market meetings.
  • Represent the Media PI portfolio at client and market events to promote visibility and growth.
  • Support senior underwriting leadership with project work responding to developments in the Media sector.
  • Handle underwriting administration, including policy documentation and account queries.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior underwriters once appropriate authority levels are achieved.
  • Contribute to internal training sessions and knowledge sharing across the team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Professional Indemnity underwriting, ideally within Media or related sectors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Media PI products and underwriting principles.
  • Excellent communication skills for broker development, stakeholder engagement, and report writing.
  • Confident negotiation and analytical skills with a focus on commercial decision-making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable managing data-driven insights.
  • Well-organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable but Not Essential:

  • Exposure to international PI business and familiarity with the London Market.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior underwriting colleagues.
  • Progress toward professional insurance qualifications (e.g., CII).
