Purpose of the Job:

• To provide a professional, comprehensive administrative service as a Digital Underwriting Assistant
• Provide a high level of service to brokers, internal teams and service providers

Principal Accountabilities:

Underwriting
• Underwriting e-Placement – Check and bind risks on e-placement platforms
• Underwriting Referrals – Manage endorsements and required escalations to the Portfolio Management Team when re-pricing is required
• Client Audits – Chasing brokers for premiums and renewals
• Capacity – Establish and maintain knowledge of internal controls and all procedures relating to underwriting
• Evaluation and Control – Processing and checking of data entry onto relevant systems
• Query Management – To monitor and handle queries from the Ki platform or via telephone in relation to both underwriting and general queries; seeking advice where required

Operations
• Maintain and monitor the flow of work between underwriting teams and the service provider to ensure items are addressed in a timely and accurate manner
• Monitor and handle broker requests and queries via the Ki platform, including subjectivities of Ki’s quoted line, endorsements and claims
• Identify and implement opportunities for streamlining underwriting activity, including increased automation or use of the service provider
• Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and User Guides accurately reflect current procedures
• Help to facilitate and monitor any new activities that are transitioned out to the service provider
• Assist with the investigation and resolution of any data quality issues that are raised by TPU and other support teams
• Assist with the testing and roll out of new IT initiatives

Compliance
• Triage sanctions-checking and raise relevant referrals to Compliance (and identify potential areas to improve or increased automated-checking to reduce referrals)
• Sample checking of electronically placed slips for compliance with pre-bind quality assurance (PBQA) and contract certainty standards
• Maintain awareness of regulatory impact and ensure underwriting activity is always within the guidelines
• Maintain the accuracy of all underwriting records and ensure quality of entries into Eclipse and other systems, as appropriate Regulatory Conduct Rules
• Act with integrity

• Be open and co-operative with Lloyd’s, the FCA, the PRA, and other regulators
• Pay due regard to the interests of customers and treat them fairly
• Observe proper standards of market conduct

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Experience of working within a Lloyd’s syndicate / managing agency (preferably Underwriting, Operations or Finance functions)
• Keen to identify and embrace new technologies and new ways of working
• Commercial awareness, with a knowledge of the insurance market and external changes which would impact on our business
• Basic knowledge of regulatory and legal compliance issues
• Progression towards the ACII professional qualification
• Educated to degree level or equivalent, having obtained a good overall grade in a relevant subject
• Good overall educational passes
• Sound knowledge of general, commercial insurance practices
• Excellent numeric, analytical and written skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Effective prioritisation and organisational skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
