Scope

Reporting to the Ibott Senior Data Scientist and working closely with the Ibott Actuaries and Underwriters, this roleholder will drive forward the data capabilities of the Ibott SPA 1971.

• Be open and co-operative with Lloyd’s, the FCA, the PRA and other regulators

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for the development of accurate, relevant and timely MI to provide insight about and to clients .

• Develop and maintain the Ibott master data databases

• Review of existing data structure and suggestions for best set up going forward 

• Reconciliation of data sources

• Assist the Ibott actuaries and underwriters in pricing risks and analysing performance of clients either on a pre-bind basis or as part of post-bind review.

• Work with Ibott clients to build and implement data capture solutions which can operate at scale

• Source and analyse external data to allow for better insights at greater granularities

• Maximise value of data collected from clients and external data to improve understanding of risk

• Research technologies, data sources & methodologies & invest time to embed these in regular processes to keep Ibott innovative

• Knowledge sharing with the BI team, and the wider business

Essential / Desirable Skills & Attributes 

Essential

• Educated to degree level in a mathematical subject or 2+ years relevant data analytics work experience

• Experience in data analytics with the ability to analyse and synthesise information from large volumes of data

• Highly proficient user of Excel

• Some experience of another coding language: SQL (or similar), Python, R, VBA

• Familiarity with data visualisation tools: Power BI or equivalent

• Ability to communicate complex information in simple terms

• Demonstrable problem solving and creative skills  with great attention to detail

• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

• Curious with a committed to self-development and a passion about challenging the status quo

Desirable

• Experience in the insurance industry, preferably in the Lloyd’s Market

• Understanding or interest in data science and machine learning techniques

• Commercially minded

• Partnering mentality with the ability to build strong working relationships with peers, underwriters and other business areas

• Knowledge of current economic and professional technical trends and issues

• Adaptable to strategic business and market shifts
