Job Title: Cyber Underwriter
Location: London (Hybrid: 4 days in office, 1 from home)
Salary Range: Competitive + benefits
Reporting to: Cyber Lead SME
Type: Permanent

Overview

An exciting opportunity for a skilled Cyber Underwriter to join a growing team within a well-established specialty insurance business. The role offers exposure to both an established Professional Risks division and a dynamic Cyber portfolio, with the chance to shape and grow the SME/Mid-Market Cyber offering. A structured development plan will be provided, with clear progression opportunities as the team expands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite profitable cyber insurance risks for SME and mid-market clients (typically up to £100m in revenue), ensuring alignment with underwriting strategy and guidelines.
  • Conduct detailed risk and coverage analysis, pricing, and contract negotiations.
  • Deliver an excellent service to brokers and contribute to the development of the Cyber product and proposition.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, identifying new business opportunities and supporting sustainable growth.
  • Represent the business at client meetings, broker events, and market conferences to promote its cyber expertise and reputation.
  • Manage new business, renewals, and referrals (including open market and online submissions), supporting the wider Professional Risks team with cyber-related enquiries.

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience underwriting Cyber business (either standalone or combined with Professional Indemnity).
  • Strong technical underwriting knowledge and commercial acumen.
  • Proven business development skills with the ability to build long-term relationships across brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and diligence.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Progress toward or completion of the ACII qualification.
  • Strong presence within, and deep understanding of, the SME Cyber market.
