Underwriting Assistant – Financial Lines & Specialty
Location:  Hybrid working (3 days in the London office) 
Reporting into: Underwriter

The Opportunity: 
Now that our Client has matured into a full syndicate earlier in the year, our portfolio is rapidly expanding and so is our team! We have ambitious goals and are looking for someone to play a key role in achieving them by providing vital administrative support.

The Role:
  • To carry out administrative tasks as required to support the underwriting team. 
•    Attend and organise key client meetings, including responsibility for agenda circulation, minutes and preparatory analysis. 
•    Maintain records of pipeline submissions and ensure this is kept up to date. 
•    Take responsibility for filing special acceptance submissions and collating and maintaining relevant logs. 
•    Assisting underwriters in the pre-bind underwriting process for new business and renewals. 
•    Inputting and monitoring workflows and ensuring tasks are completed by the underwriting team members. 
•    Assisting in the day-to-day operation of delegated authority contracts, including review of slips and endorsements. 
•    Assisting underwriters with the production of management information, including statistical analysis and production of reports for monthly management meetings, product oversight groups and other committees as necessary.
•    To take on the responsibility of operating and monitoring premium income.  
•    Collate all relevant information required for any internal/external audits. 
•    Maintain a high level of professionalism and prompt service when dealing with key stakeholders, including coverholders and brokers

Your Skills and Experience:
•    Prior relevant work experience and understanding of the insurance industry required
•    Financial Lines, Specialty or delegated authority experience good to have but not necessary 
•    Keen interest and curiosity of data; able to interpret information and identify trends and patterns
•    Advanced numeric and analytical skills. 
•    Expert knowledge of MS Excel, ability to design complex formulae and pivot tables
•    Strong administration and data entry skills. 
•    Highly organised, with the ability to work to deadlines and effectively prioritise. 
•    Confident to manage upwards and ensure team members are completing their required actions!
•    Ability to work independently using their own initiative and also well as part of a team.
