About the role
You will be working for a boutique growing Lloyd’s Broker specialising in Marine Insurance business, with a network of offices operating in many main maritime hubs around the world.
The business is multi-cultural and due to the expansion, we are looking to recruit for a Senior Account Handler / broker back-up role.
We are fully service oriented, and we serve our customers with all our knowledge and passion. We can service any type of marine coverage but with the majority of our clients set on: Hull & Machinery / Increased Value / Freight Interest, P&I, War Risks, Kidnap & Ransom, Yachts. We place the business produced from our other group offices along with working directly with clients and other producing players. We therefore see a very wide variety of accounts and have vast experience in dealing with all types of tonnage, records, clients and trading.
About the role and responsibilities
You will need 7 years’ + experience in the London Insurance Market within a similar role and will need to be able to cope with a busy working environment, dealing with various tasks throughout the day.
Role Responsibilities
- Handling own portfolio of accounts, within a sub team of 5 including both Brokers and Accounts Handlers.
- Ability to create open market MRC’s and facility declaration off-slips and endorsements.
- Accurate preparation of client documentation in accordance with regulations and in line with CR procedures.
- Submission of MRC slips to Whitespace Platform and/or sending MRC slip agreements to Underwriters via email.
- Effectively manage all renewals and adjustments in a timely and professional manor to ensure completion
- Processing risks into our inhouse broking system, generating debit/credit notes to clients and issuing closings to underwriters.
- Calculating and processing premium across Hull & War Placements
- A&S Submissions of premium LPANS to DXC technologies
- Deal with queries effectively and promptly to the client and market satisfaction
- Responsible to work closely and provide technical support to Placing Brokers in Hull & War team
- Working closely with the Accounts/Finance team to monitor payments and assist in reconciliation.
- Build and sustain relationships with colleagues abroad in CR offices
- Ad hoc projects to support technical team.
- Attend weekly team meetings
This is a pivotal role within the company and therefore demands a responsible and flexible attitude.
Essential
- 7 years + experience in the London Insurance Market.
- Previous Marine Hull & War experience, with multinational exposure
- Proficient preparation of MRC slips with attention to detail
- Experience in premium processing, ability to provide technical expertise
- A working knowledge of placing platforms (Whitespace would be beneficial)
- Ability to work 4 days in the office (as a minimum)
- Proficiency in process driven role.
- Diligence and ability to take ownership and work in a team environment
- Strong communication skills (verbally and written)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to effectively prioritise your workload, manage time and ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality
- Willingness to develop technical knowledge
- A working knowledge of Microsoft products (word, Excel and Outlook or similar software applications).
- Knowledge of Italian language.
- CII qualifications (or equivalent).
