Summary of Position:
This position is working with the Global Risks team at BMS and is the ideal opportunity for an aspiring insurance professional to join a growing and busy business, building towards being the leading London independent specialist in its fields, which include Energy, Marine, US and International Property and Private Equity, Mergers & Acquisitions.
The apprentice will work closely with Brokers, Account Handlers, Claims and others with exposure across a wide range of business lines.
This is an opportunity to learn ‘on the job’ in a dynamic and collaborative environment whilst earning an industry-recognised qualification at the same time.
Alongside the on-the-job development, the apprentice will also enrol onto the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner course, completing the Certificate in Insurance from the Chartered Institute of Insurance. The course will cover the following knowledge areas:
Insurance market
Risk and regulatory
Processes and procedures
Commercial awareness
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Assisting in the co-ordination of the placement of risks, including production of documentation to assist placement and maintenance throughout the risk life cycle (Underwriting Submissions, Market Reform Contracts, Wordings, Endorsements)
Developing technical knowledge and ability to communicate this to various audiences (insureds, retailers, wholesalers, underwriters and internal stakeholders)
Assist Account Handler and Broker ensuring that accounts are serviced efficiently and professionally
Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of workflow, budgetary records, debit notes and policy wordings
Assist Brokers and Account Handlers to identify opportunities for business development
Develop knowledge on regulatory requirements (Contract Certainty, LMBS, FCA and international requirements)
Develop skills which enable and encourage interaction and collaboration with other divisional units
Adhere to company and regulatory policies, procedures together with mandatory training requirements.
Entry Requirements
At least five GCSE’s with grades 9-4/A*-C, including English and Maths
Level 3 qualifications such as A Levels, NVQ or BTEC
Apprentices without English or Maths at Level 2 must achieve this prior to completion of the Apprenticeship.
