Accident & Health Underwriter

Location: London City
Hybrid working: Home/ Office base
Salary: Competitive 

About the role


To provide underwriting support and to assist with the operation and portfolio management of the A&H account.

To create, maintain and develop analytics tools to assist underwriters with the performance monitoring of managed clients, reinsurance, and the wider portfolio.

To support the underwriters with the development and analysis of new products with an emphasis on data analytics.

Key responsibilities:
  • Underwriter Support Collation and analysis of supporting data to assist with the underwriting of new products and risks.
  • Assist with the improvement and development of pricing models and tools.
  • Assist underwriters in their underwriting of new accounts.
  • Liaise with brokers, clients, and other functions within the business as necessary, attending meetings as required.
  • Responsible for all other regulatory returns due from the A&H team.
  • Data Capture Support
  • Responsible for Binding Authority, Lineslips, and Treaty data capture, data cleansing, and data accuracy.
  • Ensure data accuracy and reconciliation.
  • Performance Analysis Support
  • Create and run insightful reports and dashboards from the data, providing insight into client and book performance.
  • Monitoring of managed clients' underwriting performance against plans. Liaising with clients and brokers as required.


Key Skills:
  • Previous experience of working with Underwriting teams.
  • Good knowledge of BI reporting tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Knowledge of Lloyd’s, Underwriting and Reinsurance appropriate to the role.
  • Advanced Programming skills (Word, Excel, VBA or C#, SQL).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Relationship skills.

  • Analytical skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Completed ACII or the intent to complete.
