Job Title: Underwriting Services Apprentice
Location: London
Salary Range: £26,000

Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in the London insurance market through a structured two-year apprenticeship programme. As an Underwriting Services Apprentice, you'll provide operational support across delegated underwriting activities while developing a strong understanding of underwriting operations, delegated authority processes and insurance market practices.
Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll gain valuable exposure to underwriting administration, regulatory compliance, due diligence and stakeholder management, while developing the technical, professional and behavioural skills needed for a successful career in insurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the administration of delegated underwriting authority arrangements, including onboarding, renewals and ongoing due diligence activities.
  • Assist with the management of delegated authority relationships, ensuring accurate records and documentation are maintained throughout the lifecycle of agreements.
  • Provide administrative support for applications, approvals, amendments and other delegated underwriting processes.
  • Assist underwriters and claims teams by responding to delegated authority queries and supporting approval processes.
  • Support technical risk assessments and due diligence reviews to ensure third parties meet required regulatory and operational standards.
  • Conduct pre- and post-placement reviews to ensure underwriting documentation complies with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the review of bordereaux submissions, audit findings and remediation activities.
  • Support regulatory registrations, reporting activities and compliance administration using industry-standard systems.
  • Develop an understanding of delegated underwriting authority principles, insurance regulation and London Market best practice.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external business partners while providing a high standard of administrative support.

What You'll Need
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above.
  • A-Level qualifications (or equivalent) with grades A*–C.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and an aptitude for learning new systems.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and excellent communication skills.
