Location: London/ Hybrid
Salary Range: £70,000 + per annum
Reporting to: Head of Portfolio Management / Senior Portfolio Leadership

Overview:

This is a high-visibility analytical role focused on supporting portfolio performance, underwriting oversight, and strategic decision-making within a complex insurance environment. The position is suited to someone who enjoys combining data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement to help shape underwriting performance and portfolio optimisation. It offers the opportunity to influence decision-making, improve management information, and support the evolution of portfolio oversight tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, enhance, and develop a suite of portfolio management reports and management information, including complex Excel-based reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Support the transition of portfolio MI and dashboarding from Excel-based tools into Power BI, including testing, validation, and user adoption support.
  • Conduct regular portfolio monitoring to identify performance movements, emerging trends, and areas of risk or opportunity.
  • Perform targeted portfolio and performance reviews to assess profitability, sustainability, and alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Produce regular portfolio reporting for senior forums, committees, and leadership meetings, including summarising key findings and performance against plan.
  • Provide analysis that informs and challenges portfolio strategy, planning assumptions, and performance steering decisions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across underwriting, actuarial, exposure management, and related business areas to ensure consistency, clarity, and a single source of truth in reporting.
  • Contribute to wider strategic and operational initiatives as required, supporting broader portfolio management and transformation goals.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience in the insurance or reinsurance market, ideally within portfolio management, financial analysis, actuarial, underwriting performance, or data-focused roles.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capability, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear, commercial insight.
  • Proven experience maintaining and improving reporting suites and MI drawn from multiple complex data sources.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to interpret, amend, streamline, and troubleshoot VBA-based reporting tools.
  • Ability to produce high-quality analysis at pace and operate effectively in a fast-moving, commercially focused environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to summarise key messages clearly for a range of stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities to deadline.
  • A collaborative mindset, personal accountability, and the confidence to challenge constructively where appropriate.
Desirable but Not Essential:
  • Experience using Power BI, particularly in building dashboards and transitioning reporting from Excel into Power BI.
  • Exposure to underwriting portfolio analysis, optimisation, or oversight frameworks.
  • A strong academic background, ideally with a numerical degree.
About the Company:

A well-established specialty insurance business with a strong reputation for underwriting expertise, disciplined portfolio management, and a collaborative culture. The organisation is continuing to invest in performance analytics, reporting capability, and strategic portfolio oversight as part of its broader growth and transformation agenda.
