Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to launch a career in underwriting within the London insurance market through a structured two-year apprenticeship programme. As an Underwriting Apprentice, you'll become an integral part of the underwriting function, supporting experienced underwriters with the day-to-day administration of complex insurance risks while developing a strong understanding of underwriting processes, market practices and regulatory requirements.
The role combines administrative support, data analysis and reporting, providing valuable exposure to underwriting operations while offering ongoing professional development and the opportunity to work towards recognised CII qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Support underwriters with the day-to-day administration of new and renewal business across a range of insurance risks.
Assist with analysing client data and underwriting information to support informed underwriting decisions.
Maintain accurate policy records, underwriting documentation and management information within internal systems.
Prepare new business and renewal references, ensuring risks are processed accurately and within agreed service standards.
Produce reports relating to renewals, premiums, portfolio performance and underwriting activity.
Assist with monitoring underwriting performance against business objectives and highlight any trends or exceptions.
Respond to underwriting queries and provide administrative support to ensure the smooth running of underwriting operations.
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and support effective communication across the underwriting process.
Assist with reviewing underwriting documentation and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
Prepare meeting minutes, support reporting activities and contribute to ad hoc analytical projects as required.
Assist with resolving routine underwriting and risk review queries while meeting key deadlines.
Work towards achieving recognised Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) professional qualifications as part of the apprenticeship programme.

What You'll Need
GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above.
A-Level qualifications (or equivalent) with grades A*–C.
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and excellent organisational skills.
