Job Title: Underwriting Administrative Assistant
Location: London
Salary Range: £28,000
Reporting to: Senior Underwriter
Type: Permanent / Hybrid

Overview
To provide day-to-day administrative support to Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants within a class of business, ensuring records and documentation are accurate, complete and maintained in a timely manner.
The role also involves supporting market liaison and relationship management with Lloyd’s and other relevant market bodies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Enter underwriting risk data into underwriting systems, including setting up new risks, amending records and completing entries.
  • Scan and attach relevant documentation to electronic document management systems.
  • Maintain accurate, organised and up-to-date paper and electronic files.
  • Monitor reports for incomplete risks and error items, taking corrective action and following up with Underwriters or Brokers for outstanding information.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve the quality, efficiency and performance of the account through new ideas, processes and approaches.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, market and organisational requirements.
  • Enter bordereaux and manage monthly or quarterly bordereaux reporting, including following up with Brokers and/or coverholders for outstanding information.
  • Assist with reporting, meeting preparation and other general administrative activities as required.
  • Support the wider underwriting function in achieving business objectives and maintaining high standards of service and accuracy.

Education / Experience
  • A-levels or equivalent education.
  • Minimum Grade B in GCSE Mathematics and English, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Previous experience in an administrative, insurance or underwriting support environment would be advantageous.
  • An interest in the insurance market, particularly the Lloyd’s market, would be beneficial.
IT Knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable using internet-based software and electronic document management systems.
  • Familiarity with e-placing platforms and underwriting systems would be advantageous.
