Overview

An exciting opportunity for an experienced London Market Underwriter to join a growing Portfolio Solutions function focused on developing and underwriting innovative portfolio based insurance solutions. Working across multiple classes of business and distribution channels, you'll collaborate with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders to structure complex deals, analyse portfolio performance and support the continued evolution of portfolio underwriting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite portfolio based insurance solutions across multiple classes of business.
  • Assess opportunities through broker facilities, algorithmic platforms, consortia and delegated authority arrangements.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of new underwriting opportunities through market engagement.
  • Analyse portfolio performance using actuarial, statistical and modelling techniques to support underwriting decisions.
  • Monitor portfolio trends, aggregations and performance, identifying opportunities for optimisation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and key market participants.
  • Collaborate closely with actuarial, claims, compliance, exposure management and other internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor market developments, digitisation trends and emerging underwriting technologies.
  • Ensure underwriting activity complies with regulatory requirements, internal governance and underwriting appetite.
  • Support reporting, documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrable underwriting experience within the Lloyd's or London Market.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess portfolio performance and risk dynamics.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to identify and develop new underwriting opportunities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast paced underwriting environment.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in innovation and portfolio underwriting.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Experience underwriting across multiple classes or portfolio based solutions.
  • Exposure to delegated authority business, algorithmic underwriting or digital distribution models.
  • Experience working closely with actuarial, exposure management or data analytics teams.
  • Knowledge of emerging underwriting technology and market digitisation trends.
