Job Title: Summer Internship – Underwriting in Marine Cargo

Overview

This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a specialist Marine Cargo Underwriting environment. You will develop an understanding of how insurers assess, price, and manage risks associated with the movement of goods across global supply chains, helping businesses navigate an increasingly complex and unpredictable world.

Working alongside experienced underwriting professionals, you will gain exposure to risk assessment, market analysis, broker relationships, and underwriting decision-making. You will support a variety of underwriting activities while developing valuable commercial, analytical, and professional skills within the London insurance market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support underwriters with day-to-day underwriting and portfolio management activities.

  • Assist with the assessment and analysis of marine cargo risks, including those arising from global trade, transportation, and supply chain exposures.

  • Conduct research into industry trends, emerging risks, market developments, and economic factors affecting the marine cargo sector.

  • Analyse underwriting data and management information to support decision-making and business planning.

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist with maintaining underwriting records, systems, and reporting processes.

  • Support projects focused on business improvement, operational efficiency, and portfolio performance.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across different business functions to gain a broader understanding of the insurance industry.

  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality service and support to brokers and clients.
