Job Title: Senior IT Project Manager
Location: London / Hybrid
Salary Range: Competitive
Reporting to: IT Leadership
Type: Permanent / Hybrid

Overview:
This is a senior project management role responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of complex IT initiatives within a dynamic, business-critical environment. The role is focused on driving technology projects from inception through to implementation, ensuring delivery is aligned to strategic objectives, governed effectively, and executed to a high standard. It is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys managing large-scale change, working across business and technical teams, and bringing structure, control, and momentum to complex programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the full lifecycle delivery of IT projects, ensuring scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables are effectively managed
  • Oversee project activity across cross-functional teams, working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership to ensure alignment and progress
  • Develop and maintain key project documentation, including business cases, project plans, risk logs, communication plans, governance packs, and status reporting
  • Define project scope and schedules in partnership with stakeholders, ensuring business requirements are translated into clear and actionable plans
  • Monitor project performance and take corrective action where required to keep delivery on track
  • Secure and coordinate the resources, funding, and support required for successful project execution
  • Manage third-party vendors and external delivery partners, ensuring accountability against agreed timelines and quality standards
  • Provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders on project progress, risks, issues, and dependencies, including recommendations for mitigation
  • Maintain strong project governance and ensure compliance with relevant audit, regulatory, and internal control requirements
  • Support wider strategic initiatives and additional projects as needed within a fast-moving delivery environment
What We’re Looking For:
  • Significant project management experience, ideally with a strong focus on application development and data integration projects
  • Proven track record leading large, complex IT projects across mid-sized to large organisations
  • Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies, including waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches
  • Experience managing project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and vendor relationships independently
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work across business and technical teams at all levels
  • Comfortable operating in a matrix environment and coordinating cross-functional delivery teams
  • Good working knowledge of project and portfolio management tools such as Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Azure DevOps, and related collaboration platforms
  • Background in insurance, particularly commercial property and casualty, would be advantageous
Desirable but Not Essential:
  • Experience within a regulated insurance or financial services environment
  • Exposure to large-scale systems integration, infrastructure, or enterprise application deployment
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, and governance requirements in complex organisations
About the Company:
A large, internationally recognised insurance organisation with a strong reputation for technical expertise, long-term stability, and collaborative working. The business is investing heavily in technology, transformation, and delivery capability as part of its continued strategic development. It offers a professional and well-supported environment for experienced project managers who enjoy working on complex initiatives with real business impact.
