Job Title: Senior Claims Adjuster
Location: London / Hybrid
Salary Range: £67,000 - £85,000
Reporting to: Claims Manager

Overview:
An excellent opportunity for a Senior Claims Adjuster to manage a varied and complex portfolio of claims within the Lloyd’s market, with a particular focus on Special Risk classes. The role combines technical claims expertise, client relationship management and collaboration with underwriting teams, while contributing to high-quality customer outcomes and the profitable development of the business. The successful candidate will also support colleagues, contribute to continuous improvement and take ownership of their own professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of claims, including complex and high-value matters, through personal ownership, collaboration with experienced colleagues or oversight of less experienced adjusters.
  • Deliver a first-class claims service and ensure fair, commercially appropriate outcomes for customers.
  • Develop and maintain nominated client relationships, ensuring claims services support wider business objectives.
  • Liaise with underwriting colleagues on individual claims, policy wording and market-level issues.
  • Support the profitable development of relevant accounts through effective claims insight and collaboration.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues within the claims function and take ownership of customer issues where required.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of delegated authority, conduct, risk appetite and financial crime requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, market and internal requirements relating to conduct and financial crime.
  • Champion organisational values and demonstrate the expected professional behaviours.
  • Take ownership of personal objectives, appraisal and ongoing training and development.
  • Remain adaptable and be prepared to handle claims across a broader range of business classes when required.

What We're Looking For:
  • Extensive experience handling Special Risk claims, particularly Political Risk, Trade Credit and Political Violence, within the Lloyd’s or wider London market.
  • Strong understanding of London market claims practices, processes and the respective duties and obligations of market participants.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant commercial insurance classes and their associated claims considerations.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance customer outcomes and commercial considerations.
  • Proven ability to manage complex claims and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach, with a willingness to support colleagues and share expertise.
  • Professionalism, adaptability and sound judgement.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and relevant London market claims systems, including ECF.

Desirable but Not Essential:
  • Experience or interest in handling claims across additional specialist classes such as Cyber, Intellectual Property and Product Recall.
  • Experience overseeing or mentoring less experienced claims professionals.
  • Broader exposure to complex or multi-class commercial insurance claims.

The organisation operates in a collaborative and commercially focused environment, with an emphasis on disciplined risk management, professional development and delivering strong outcomes for clients. The business continues to develop its specialist capabilities and invest in its people as part of its wider growth strategy.
