Overview:
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join a highly regarded insurance organisation, supporting exposure management and catastrophe modelling across a global portfolio. This role plays a key part in providing analytical insight to underwriting, actuarial, risk, and senior leadership teams, helping to inform portfolio management, pricing, capital allocation, and strategic decision-making. The position also offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of modelling capabilities, analytical tools, and process improvements within a collaborative and technically focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver catastrophe modelling and exposure management analysis across natural and non-natural catastrophe risks.
- Provide analytical support to underwriting teams to assist with risk assessment, pricing decisions, portfolio optimisation, and exposure management.
- Produce portfolio analysis and catastrophe loss reporting to support actuarial, risk, and senior management decision-making.
- Lead and contribute to quarterly exposure management processes, including data collection, analysis, validation, and reporting.
- Support the development and enhancement of catastrophe modelling methodologies and analytical capabilities.
- Develop and improve tools used for risk aggregation, underwriting, pricing, and portfolio analysis.
- Evaluate catastrophe models, modelling platforms, and emerging technologies to enhance analytical capability.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and quality of exposure management activities.
- Assist with catastrophe modelling and analytical work across the wider team during peak reporting periods.
- Build expert knowledge of catastrophe modelling software and associated analytical processes.
- Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and risk teams on cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of relevant regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in catastrophe modelling, exposure management, or a closely related analytical discipline.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Experience interpreting complex datasets and communicating insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across multiple teams.
- A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of work and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience supporting underwriting, portfolio management, or capital modelling activities within the insurance sector.
Desirable but Not Essential:
- Experience with programming or data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or VBA.
- Knowledge of catastrophe modelling platforms and industry-standard exposure management tools.
- Understanding of capital modelling, insurance risk modelling, or asset liability management.
- Experience working within the London Market or wider commercial insurance industry.
