An excellent opportunity for an experienced Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join a highly regarded insurance organisation, supporting exposure management and catastrophe modelling across a global portfolio. This role plays a key part in providing analytical insight to underwriting, actuarial, risk, and senior leadership teams, helping to inform portfolio management, pricing, capital allocation, and strategic decision-making. The position also offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of modelling capabilities, analytical tools, and process improvements within a collaborative and technically focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver catastrophe modelling and exposure management analysis across natural and non-natural catastrophe risks.
  • Provide analytical support to underwriting teams to assist with risk assessment, pricing decisions, portfolio optimisation, and exposure management.
  • Produce portfolio analysis and catastrophe loss reporting to support actuarial, risk, and senior management decision-making.
  • Lead and contribute to quarterly exposure management processes, including data collection, analysis, validation, and reporting.
  • Support the development and enhancement of catastrophe modelling methodologies and analytical capabilities.
  • Develop and improve tools used for risk aggregation, underwriting, pricing, and portfolio analysis.
  • Evaluate catastrophe models, modelling platforms, and emerging technologies to enhance analytical capability.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and quality of exposure management activities.
  • Assist with catastrophe modelling and analytical work across the wider team during peak reporting periods.
  • Build expert knowledge of catastrophe modelling software and associated analytical processes.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and risk teams on cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards.

What We're Looking For:
  • Proven experience in catastrophe modelling, exposure management, or a closely related analytical discipline.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience interpreting complex datasets and communicating insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across multiple teams.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of work and drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting underwriting, portfolio management, or capital modelling activities within the insurance sector.

Desirable but Not Essential:
  • Experience with programming or data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or VBA.
  • Knowledge of catastrophe modelling platforms and industry-standard exposure management tools.
  • Understanding of capital modelling, insurance risk modelling, or asset liability management.
  • Experience working within the London Market or wider commercial insurance industry.
