Overview:
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Reinsurance Asset Handler to join a specialist insurance business, supporting the operational management of outward reinsurance assets. This role focuses on the calculation, administration, and reconciliation of reinsurance recoveries across complex treaty and facultative arrangements, while working closely with Finance, Claims, brokers, and other key stakeholders. It offers the chance to play an important role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting regulatory compliance, and contributing to the smooth operation of a high-performing reinsurance function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calculate and manage reinsurance assets, with a particular focus on Quota Share reinsurance for Delegated Authority Binder business across treaty and facultative programmes.
- Analyse premium and claims bordereaux to support the production of accurate reinsurance accounts across complex global reinsurance arrangements.
- Validate the automated booking of premiums and calculate profit commissions, sliding scale commissions, and cash calls.
- Work closely with credit control to support the billing and collection of reinsurance recoveries through brokers.
- Liaise with Finance, Claims, brokers, and external stakeholders to investigate and resolve operational queries.
- Maintain and update internal tracking tools to ensure accurate reporting and oversight.
- Support the preparation of information for internal controls, audits, and regulatory reporting.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with applicable regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
What We're Looking For:
- At least five years' experience within reinsurance operations or reinsurance asset management.
- Strong understanding of London Market and Lloyd's reinsurance processes.
- Experience working with delegated authority business, treaty, and facultative reinsurance.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex premium and claims data.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge existing processes and identify improvements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
- A proactive, adaptable approach with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- An interest in adopting new technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve operational efficiency.
Desirable but Not Essential:
- Experience working across both company market and Lloyd's syndicate business.
- Knowledge of reinsurance accounting processes and cash allocation.
- Experience supporting internal and external audit requirements.
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint and wider Microsoft Office applications.
