Overview:
An exciting opportunity for a data-driven analyst to play a key role in shaping distribution and market intelligence within a leading insurance business. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality market analysis, broker insights, competitor intelligence, and reporting that supports strategic decision-making across underwriting and distribution functions. The role offers the chance to work with a broad range of internal stakeholders while helping to develop and enhance the organisation's data and analytics capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions using Power BI, ensuring reports remain accurate, relevant, and aligned with business needs.
  • Produce monthly management information and performance reporting, highlighting key trends and actionable insights.
  • Support the migration of reporting models and SQL queries to modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Maintain and enhance market sizing models using internal and external data sources, ensuring annual updates are completed accurately.
  • Develop and improve Power Query processes to ingest and transform broker and pipeline data.
  • Build and maintain automated processes for incorporating new market and distribution data sources.
  • Analyse broker portfolios, market share, competitor activity, and distribution trends to support strategic planning.
  • Combine internal and external datasets to provide insights into market positioning and share of wallet.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting and analytical requests from business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with data and technology teams to ensure consistency, governance, and quality across reporting solutions.
  • Coordinate market intelligence, broker research, and thought leadership materials, ensuring insights are shared effectively across the business.
  • Monitor market developments and emerging distribution trends, communicating relevant updates to key stakeholders.
  • Promote the effective use of data and analytics to support business strategy and decision-making.


What We're Looking For:
  • Experience working in a data analytics, business intelligence, or market analysis role.
  • Strong SQL skills with knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI, including DAX and Power Query.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Experience producing accurate, insightful management information and business reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to present findings to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.


Desirable but Not Essential:
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of the London Market or wider insurance industry.
  • Experience with VBA or other automation tools.
  • Familiarity with broker, distribution, or market intelligence reporting.
  • Experience building automated data pipelines or integrating external data sources.
