Title: PMO Lead
Rate: £500 per day
Location: London/ Hybrid

Reporting to:
Director of Performance, Quality & Governance

Overview:
This is a senior PMO leadership role with broad responsibility across portfolio governance, delivery assurance, financial oversight, and executive reporting for a complex change and transformation environment. The position plays a key role in strengthening delivery discipline across major programmes, ensuring governance is proportionate, effective, and aligned to business priorities. It would suit someone who enjoys operating at portfolio level, influencing senior stakeholders, and improving PMO maturity across a fast-paced organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and enhance the governance framework across major programmes and change initiatives, including stage gates, assurance activity, reporting standards, and delivery controls
  • Oversee portfolio-level assurance and quality reviews, ensuring findings are addressed and improvements are embedded
  • Act as a senior point of contact for internal audit, external assurance activity, and governance-related reviews
  • Maintain oversight of portfolio financial controls, including forecasting, accruals, and change impact assessments
  • Manage change control processes, ensuring impacts to scope, cost, timelines, and benefits are clearly understood and governed
  • Provide oversight of RAID management, interdependencies, and critical delivery risks across multiple programmes
  • Produce high-quality executive reporting that brings together delivery progress, financial position, risks, and key decisions
  • Support the continuous improvement of PMO standards, tools, and ways of working across the wider function
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to the PMO community and deputise for the wider leadership team where required

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong senior PMO experience across complex portfolios, programmes, or enterprise-wide transformation environments
  • Proven track record of designing and embedding governance, assurance, and reporting frameworks
  • Strong financial governance capability, including forecasting, accruals, and benefits tracking
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with confidence operating in senior forums and challenging constructively where needed
  • Experience producing clear, insight-led reporting for executive audiences
  • Advanced capability in PMO tooling such as Planview or similar, alongside MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience working within insurance or broader financial services would be beneficial

Desirable but Not Essential:

  • Background in a regulated environment
  • Experience supporting audit, assurance, or regulatory review activity
  • Prior experience leading or developing PMO capability across a function
  • Exposure to large-scale business or technology transformation programmes
