This is a broad position offering exposure across both underwriting and portfolio management, with the opportunity to develop market-facing responsibilities and progressively increase underwriting authority as experience grows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite business within agreed personal authority, underwriting procedures and class guidelines, contributing to portfolio, premium and performance objectives.

  • Review and process submissions, renewals, endorsements and new business opportunities accurately and efficiently.

  • Support the underwriting and monitoring of delegated authority and reinsurance arrangements, including binding authorities, lineslips, consortia and quota share treaties.

  • Liaise with stakeholders across exposure management, actuarial, credit control, compliance, operations, claims, data, risk and other relevant functions.

  • Support premium and exposure monitoring, including the review and resolution of bordereaux and delegated data queries.

  • Assist with credit control and other underwriting-related operational processes.

  • Contribute to portfolio monitoring, management information, business planning, presentations and ad hoc analysis.

  • Analyse underwriting, exposure and financial performance data to support portfolio decisions and reporting.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and other external stakeholders.

  • Provide a high standard of service and develop market-facing responsibilities, including travel where appropriate.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to maintain effective working relationships.

  • Undertake additional duties and projects as required.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience within the Lloyd’s and/or London Market.

  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes and the wider insurance market.

  • Excellent organisation, administration and planning skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Good analytical capability, with the ability to interpret underwriting, exposure and financial performance information.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to internal and external audiences.

  • Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in delegated authority, reinsurance and portfolio-based underwriting.

  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong relationship-building skills and an interest in developing broker- and client-facing responsibilities.

  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel, together with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective relationships across a range of stakeholders.

Desirable but Not Essential:

  • Experience with delegated authority business, including binding authorities, lineslips or consortium arrangements.

  • Exposure to reinsurance, delegated authority or portfolio-based underwriting products.

  • Knowledge of underwriting support functions such as exposure management, credit control, delegated authority, bordereaux management and underwriting operations.

  • Experience working with portfolio monitoring, management information or business planning.

  • ACII qualification or progress towards professional insurance qualifications.
